The WMO Trainer Resources Portal

Now open to everyone, 365 days per year!

For four years now, the WMO Online Course for Trainers has supported the development of the WMO Competency Requirements for Education and Training Providers. Five courses have been offered, in English, Spanish, Russian, and French. The course has been a great success thanks in great part to so many great volunteer facilitators (over 25) and over 150 dedicated participants who have met all requirements and receive certificates of successful completion.

As of 1 September 2017, the resources used in this course are available every day for all WMO Members on the ETRP Moodle site, with no login required, at http://etrp.wmo.int/moodle/course/view.php?id=30.

These resources, organized by the six competency units of the WMO framework, have been developed by over 15 contributors, starting in 2014, but continually updated since that time. All resources are well researched, based on a solid foundation of training literature and the years of experience of those who offer them. The effort to collect these resources within a user-friendly portal has been sponsored by the WMO ETR Office and the EUMETNET Eumetcal Programme.

The WMO Trainer Resources are being offered under a Creative Commons open copyright license that requires only attribution of the source for their reuse, and allows for free adaptation to meet the unique needs of users. For example, they might be adapted and used to build a new local or national train-the-trainer courses, or simply accessed for self-directed learning.

The portal will eventually be available in 4 languages: Spanish, French, Russian, English. This portal is not intended to replace the facilitated course that is currently offered each year, but provides alternative paths to competency development for trainers. The portal also provides the definitive, up-to-date repository of course resources for future WMO courses.

WMO offers special thanks to Ms. Luciane Veeck, Open University and WMO/CGMS VLab, for her efforts in helping to meet this significant milestone of the publication of the WMO Trainer Resources Portal.

I appreciate the opportunity you have given me, as well as your confidence to collaborate in translation, course development and workshop in Spanish, it was hard work that involved many people, but I know for sure that we were able to integrate Latin America to a Global Campus more fair and equitable.
    THANKS. Graciela
